Castle Raceway Area 2 Round – 11 Jan 26


With freezing weather conditions leading up to the meeting it was the Saturday tea time before it could be decided with any confidence that we could travel in acceptable conditions to Rhuddlan for the 2nd round of the season. Fortunately the temperature shot up just in time for the wet 100+ miles trip for most of us with 8 racers making the journey.


Martin Ellis & Shep slugged it out for the top 2 positions in the racing in all classes with Shep taking the win in F1 & Martin Saloon & Sports. As can be seen from the results 3rd to 6th in all classes produced some very close racing which despite the less than great turn out was good to be part of.


A big thanks to Terry Giacomet for running the racing for us along with Chris Rigby & Dave Gatten marshalling all day for us – as usual they were great hosts.


Hope to see you all for the final round at Fylde on 8 Feb.

SLOT IN TWO 2026

The final round of this season’s Area Championship took place at Fylde on 8 Feb with 8 racers

participating in the racing.


As with the other 2 rounds Martin Ellis & Paul Shepherd dominated qualifying. Shep Tqd in Saloon  to finish 2nd with Martin winning the race.  In F1 Shep Tqd & won the F1 race with Martin having problems. This meant if either of then won the last race in sports they would take the championship title.

Shep spun a pinion on his 3rd lap of sports qualy but just scraped into the A final & was looking good for the win part way through the race. Unfortunately he fell foul of his own jesting quip when other racers have car problems – ‘lead wire!’

Martin went on to win the race & the area title with Gordon Dickson grabbing a  2nd place in sports. After a variable 1st 2 rounds Pete Clarkson finished the season strongly with a 2nd

In F1 & 3rds in saloon & sports to move up the championship while Dave Wood continued his improved form this year.

A big thanks to Richard Lang who marshalled all day again for us.


With Ian Fitzpatrick stating he will not race at the Nationals it seems quite likely our guaranteed places there will be down to 7th place which is were 2 are tied on the same points! These can only be separated by taking into account the ‘dropped score’ from each class which gives David Sargent a 1 point edge over Dave Wood – hopefully they will both get a place if any re-allocations.


Congratulations to Martin on winning the championship & to Gordon on taking main grade honours.
